Just for fun!

These are my nails today (well, I actually did them yesterday). They totally make me want spring and summer. I'm through with this gloomy winter!

Cute and so easy!

P.S. In case you're wondering, which you're not, I'm no hand model. ;)

Well, my local thrift store has decided to devote a whole wall to clowns. CLOWNS. I couldn't even get the whole clown section in the camera frame, but you get the idea. As a lifelong scaredy-cat when it comes to clowns, I do NOT approve of this. I also haven't found a new thrift store score in a while, and I'm sure they'd have a bunch more good stuff out if it weren't for these clowns taking up all the space! Ick.

P.S. I still like you if even if you like clowns.

Breakfast and my new Nutribullet

After my last post, I decided to buy a Nutribullet. The photo above was my breakfast this morning (before I pulverized it!). It was baby spinach, raspberries, strawberries, pineapple and dried goji berries. So far I've made four or five drinks in the Nutribullet and I like it a lot. The trick is to make sure you don't overfill it, and also that the lid is on tightly before you start pulverizing. It's true, you don't taste the greens!

I've also been adding chia seeds to my smoothies, which I found out are insanely good for you (and don't seem to add any flavor!). So far, my favorite drink was one I made with a banana, peanut butter I had just ground fresh at the grocery store, oats, chia seeds and coconut milk. YUM! The Nutribullet comes with a milling blade, so I ground the raw oats and seeds before I threw them into the mix. Let me tell you, I'll be having that particular drink for breakfast a lot. It was so good!

If you want to get the best deal on a Nutribullet, I suggest you get one at Bed Bath and Beyond and use a 20% off coupon like I did. It came to $79.99 plus tax, which is even better than Target, where it currently sells for $99.00.

I'm really looking forward to increasing my nutrient intake. Even after just a few smoothies, I can feel a difference.  If any of you have any favorite smoothie/juicing recipes, please post them!

Lunch and a healthier me.

Mmmmm. I've been loving these California Veggie Burgers lately. Although I'm not a vegan or even vegetarian (these burgers are vegan), I've been leaning toward a lot of vegetarian foods for the health benefits- and because some of them are really good! I especially like these burgers with avocado and tiny cherry tomato slices.

I've been watching a lot of documentaries lately that really expose all the total garbage we eat on a daily basis. Everything is so full of chemicals nowadays, and high fructose corn syrup seems to make its way into everything. I definitely want to move away from those things! I've since increased the amount of fruits and vegetables I eat every day, considerably decreased my sugar intake, and feel SO much better! I've also started drinking a lot of water (I actually hate water. Weird, I know).

Do any of you own a juicer? I'm thinking about getting one and am curious about experiences any of you may have had.

Last year I lost 17 pounds (it doesn't sound like much but I lost everything I wanted to lose) cutting back on sugar and and doing one or two miles from this walking video every day or two. I kind of went off track once autumn hit and stopped doing the videos.  I've kept the weight off, but definitely lost some strength and tone and need to get walking again. If you're looking for a video you can do at home that is simple to follow and really works, I'd definitely give Leslie Sansone a try. When you first start doing one of the routines, you think it's almost TOO easy and can't imagine it doing anything. By the end, you are completely out of breath and sore. Seriously!

Anyway, if any of you have any juicer recommendations, please do let me know!

Something I got and something I didn't.

Today I picked up just a couple of vintage finds after work. I couldn't pass up the sweet little saucer above. I love that shade of pink, and the crackling (click for a close-up) is perfect. It was 50 cents. Oh, and it TOTALLY looks like it goes with the little bowl in this post. They go perfectly together!

The next thing was not something I probably would've bought, but I just happened to pick it up and start reading the first page of this 1928 book:

I ended up really liking where it was going (after just a few pages) and now I have to see what happens. It was that interesting! I just looked online and I'm not sure but I think it might be part of a trilogy- maybe the second in the series, that seems to be about a minor character in the first book. I hope I didn't need to read the first one to understand this one. It seems to be about a human somehow traveling to a looking-glass type planet and relaying the customs and strange things happening all around him.  Yay for a new (old) book!

Lastly, I thought I'd show you something I saw at the same shop recently and obviously could not buy (at over $4,000.00!):

Oh, how I love those chairs! This table was way bigger than the photo shows. I don't think this set would even fit in my dining room. Isn't it great, though?!

Happy Friday, everyone. Have a great weekend!
