Thrift store score.

How adorable are these tiny candle holders?! I found them at the thrift store on my lunch break today and knew I had to take them home with me. They are only about an inch tall!


All six for $1.00. :)

I just stumbled across a photo of one of these framed objects here and knew I had to write about them. I love these!

The frames emphasize the objects held within, whether in a vase, on a shelf or on a hook. Brilliant!

Thrift store score and waiting for mail

I went to the thrift store on my lunch break today and found this awesome vintage serving bowl:

It's actually the same designer and brand as these, though not the same pattern. I love it!

As for my most recent purchases, I'm waiting for these adorable vintage salt and pepper shakers from Brooklynretro:

Too cute to pass up, right? And I looove the color. I'm also waiting for this great bag from helisengezer:

I love the lace detail and it has a place to clip your keys inside. This is crucial for me, since I lose my keys about a hundred times a day.

A lovely little shop.

I apologize for my silence! I have been trying to sew my way out of a jumble of 17 custom cuffs, most of them embroidered and mostly to all different people. 10 more to go! I wanted to take a break and show you this sweet shop I found this morning.

Look at these teeny pots!!! If you love tiny things, these are for you. They are only about 1.5-2 inches tall!

You know what I want for my cats?

This catnip-filled teacup, because my cats are very sophisticated and love tea time.

And this catnip-filled ear. It's van Gogh's ear, of course! My cats would surely appreciate the artistic value of this. Love both of these! Get a toy for your cat here. :)

The mailman was good to me today.

I was so happy to see a box on my front steps just now. How perfect are these adorable vintage mugs?!! They came from here and I just love them! I know. I already have more mugs than I will ever need. I just couldn't resist. :D

Thrift store score!

I don't think I ever wrote about these when I bought them from the thrift store a while back. I got a nice old set of 55 dominoes in their original wooden box.

They are really heavy and thick and make the most perfect noise when they clink together.

Julia actually taught me how to play, because I had never REALLY played before. It's so fun! Have you found anything good at the thrift store lately?

Here are some good things.

LOVEly stones

So everyone should know by now that I have a thing for rocks. Right now I have my eye on these gorgeous beach stones from MedBeachStones. They come from Israel and were picked from the Mediterranean Sea. I love them.

I pass this house every day...

...on the way to work. I really love the spooky old-fashioned carriage in the front yard!

Today on the way home I stopped and asked the owner if he minded if I took a few pictures of his great display for my blog. He was more than happy to let me do so!

Unfortunately the sun was setting right behind the house and it didn't make for the best photos.


I just love this old carriage! Is that even what that would be called? I'm not sure... either way, I love it!

I love this!

This is a perpetual wall calender from littlebrownpen. The number photos were taken in Paris.

Arrange the photos however you like for the current month and change as needed. The photos are held together by little clear clips.

What I like best is this calendar is BIG! It measures roughly 3ft by 3ft, so it doubles as wall art. I want it!

A look into the past (or what I found on my back porch).

A while back, I got home from work one day to find these two very old books on my back porch. They were left by someone who knew I loved such things and had found them at a nearby thrift store:

Each book was stuffed with treasures, like a lot of pressed flowers:


and a lot of four-leaf clovers:

and bits of old paper:

and clippings someone once found very special and chose to keep:

Now that's the kind of thing I love seeing on my back porch when I get home! I'm so glad the thrift store people didn't go through the pages and remove all these little treasures of the past.

While I was just taking the photos above, I noticed the two cuddlebunnies spooning on the chair:


Of course, as soon as they realized I was watching they separated as if I didn't just catch them making out (which I did). They are such sweet boys.

Weekend vintage finds

Today I went to the antique and vintage flea market with Julia. It was actually really cold, but I was so happy to be treasure-hunting. I lucked out and found this great vintage fabric. The top two are old feedsack and I LOVE them!:

I also got this really sweet covered bowl. It's a nice size for side dishes at about 6.5 inches wide and 6.5 inches tall including the handle. Isn't it adorable?! The seller from this booth is always so sweet. I have bought from her many times.

I usually don't buy edibles at the flea market but I sampled this caramel apple butter and couldn't resist. It is so so good!
