Sweet Sage

My sweet sister Sage turned six years old a couple of days ago. This photo is probably almost two years old- I can't believe I don't have a more recent one of the two of us together.

I love you, Sage Lily! Happy birthday from your big sister. :)

P.S. If you want to see a really cute video of Sage talking to me on a special "sisters" day, click here.

Mmmmmmmm.

I think it's time for a recipe- a SUPER easy one and it's so good, too. People, meet my dinner:

I've had this recipe for years and I THINK I got it at kraftfoods.com but I'm not sure. Anyway, it's called Easy Cheesy Spinach Bake and it's pretty much like a crustless quiche. It literally takes no time to throw together. If you like spinach, cheese and bacon, this one's for you. :)

Ingredients:
4 eggs
1 container (16 oz) cottage cheese
1 pkg. (10 oz) frozen chopped spinach, thawed, well drained
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup REAL bacon bits (I used Oscar Mayer "recipe pieces" which are a tad bigger)
1/2 cup green onion slices
1/2 of a medium red pepper, cut into thin strips (for garnish- I didn't have one tonight).

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Beat eggs lightly in large bowl. Add all remaining ingredients except red peppers. Mix well. Pour into 9 inch pie plate. Bake 40 minutes or until center is set. Top with peppers.

How easy is that?! It gets nice and crispy around the edges. I have some good leftovers for tomorrow!

Just a tad more.

I thought I'd post more of a close-up photo of the art above my couch. The camera wouldn't focus and I had an awful time fighting glare (and of course I should have straightened them first!). Anyway, the two pieces in the center are original oil pastels from tushtush. Oh, how I love them! Her work is so amazing in person. The top left is an original watercolor from metrostation I got long, long ago. The rest are prints from artquirk. I have a thing for paintings and prints of street and building scenes, and I just love artquirk's shop.

Below is a close-up of the pillow on my couch. I got it from EmmaDear and I LOVE it. It is vintage crewel-work that she repurposed into a pillow. It fits the couch perfectly and goes great with the afghan!

Below is a little corner of my living room that didn't show in the post below. Another original painting from tushtush sits atop the shelf, along with my LOVELY drawing of Julia done by the talented Kelley of drawworm. Oh, how I adore it.

I hope I'm not boring all of you with this incessant tour of the house! ;)

Before and after #3

Ok, time for before and after #3- I've been working so hard, which I hope makes up for my blogging absence! I also STILL don't have internet at the new house so that's been really hard. I'm at the old house right now so I can post this! The photo below is what the living room looked like as the seller had it. The photo is small and poor quality, and it was taken by the seller:

And here is how it looks now (click photo twice to zoom):

It's a bad photo but I just couldn't get a good shot of the room- you get the idea! I have my favorite Urban Outfitters afghan draped over the couch that was kindly left to me by the seller because he knew it would be a while before I could get one of my own. For now, it works. I still have to get new curtain rods- the curtains are actually charcoal gray and have a raised floral pattern.

Here is Finn taking a rest on the old footed chest in front of the big window:

Isn't he handsome?!

I'll be taking better photos soon (ones that show the other side of the room). Phew. I'm tired!

Adorable

Aren't these tiny thimble-shaped candles sweet? I love the colors, too. They even come with a little vintage dessert plate to catch the drippings. Find them here.

Look at my mom showing off her skinny legs in that sweet little bathing suit, hahaha. It's Mom's birthday, today- the big 5-0! Sorry, Mom- I had to tell everyone. Here she is just a young little thing holding me on her lap:

And here we are now:

Happy birthday, Mom! Hugs and kisses to you today.. xoxo
P.S. I have been working hard on the house and have some new pictures coming soon! Thanks to everyone for sticking around. :)
