Today as I was making this treasury dedicated to pretty crocheted items, I came across the shop LockandSpoon. Just look at these mini crocheted glass bottles!

Being a lover of tiny things and a lover of crochet-covered things, I pretty much fell in love. This shop is so cute. The items have a great organic feel to them, like the necklaces made with bits of real twigs. They also sell hand-drilled stone buttons (and you KNOW how I am about rocks). Go take a look at LockandSpoon. :)

And the winners are.... (you have to watch to find out!)

So who won a gorgeous lunaticart ring?!! Watch the video here and see if it was your lucky day. I'll be in contact shortly! :D

Show me your mug.

My friend Jody over at the little prints does this fun thing on her blog where she shows a great mug from her collection on Mondays. Mug Monday! Today I thought I'd show one from my collection. I've had it for a few years and actually I've never used it for beverages! I was never sure if it was actually a mug because of the double handles and pot-like shape, and so far I've used it to hold bookmarks on my bookshelf. Anyway, it's so pretty and I love all the crazing!

**I hope you're as easily amused by vintage mugs as I am. :)

Postcard flashback

I blogged about these antique postcards from my collection when I first started this blog (wow, this blog is almost one year old!), but there are a lot more of you now so I thought I'd post them again- they are just too good to have missed the first time!

Sent by Eric (who really liked to get right to the point) in 1911:

and someone was in store for quite the spanking in 1909:

P.S. I'm picking the winners of this amazing giveaway tomorrow morning at 8:00 am central time. Go enter if you haven't already! :D

In the shop today.

One of my first Etsy purchases

Wow, it's been over four years since I joined Etsy, and I thought I would show you one of my very first (and very favorite) purchases! I bought the above print/photo manipulation in April of 2006 from magicjelly. This is so much more than a print, though. It's actually bonded and wrapped around canvas board and has been enhanced with a finish of beeswax. It is very sturdy, yet the finish is so soft. It's hard to show in a photo.

Here is how I have the print displayed, along with another similar print from the same seller on the bottom shelf. I just LOVE these and am so happy to have them. They are signed and numbered on the back, as they were part of limited editions. I see her shop is closed right now, but I can't wait to see what she offers when she returns.

What was one of your first Etsy purchases? I want to know!

**please excuse the bad lighting in that shelf photo! It is so dark in here right now and I had to use a flash- blech!

Thrift store score

I made a quick thrift store trip today in between errands. I didn't have too much luck, but was able to find these adorable vintage Berggren mugs. I pretty much love them. They were a steal at 99 cents each.

Just for fun, I thought I'd show this photo I snapped of Finn and Kitterson last night:

They were cuddling at the top of the stairs. And, yes, that is yet another wallpaper print I cannot wait to remove! I also want to get rid of the carpet because it's a pretty weird color. Unfortunately, that just can't be a priority right now!

Have a great rest of your weekend, friends. :)

Pretty mail with a purpose

It's actually been a long time (really!) since I have purchased a crocheted rock, but the other day when knitalatte updated her shop, I knew I had to grab this crocheted wood slice. The underside of it is sooooo nice and smooth to the touch. Plus, knitalatte donated the proceeds from this shop update to the Canadian Wildlife Foundation for their work in responding to the gulf oil spill. :)

Sorry the last pic is so dark- I just couldn't get a good photo from far away!

P.S. Do enter my giveaway if you haven't yet done so!

It's been a while since I talked about rocks, right?

If you've been following this blog for a while, you know I have a bit of a fascination with rocks. I have a collection of sorts, mostly rocks like these or these. So today when I found the otchipotchi shop and blog, I was in heaven. Take a look:

From hand-pressed porcelain stones (taken from molds of real stones) to pebble vases for the wall and table, this shop is simple while making a statement. Lovely!!

P.S. I have a great giveaway coming this week- stay tuned!

As soon as I finished making this (about ten minutes) ago, I knew I had to snap a pic and blog about it. This Fettuccine alla Carbonara is SOOOO good and uses a handful of ingredients- most of which you probably already have! It is so rich and creamy, and has the perfect amount of saltiness from the pancetta. A good amount of pepper gives it a kick, as well. Get the recipe here. You won't regret it!

Vintage bookmarks

I don't think I've ever mentioned here that I have a bit of a vintage/antique bookmark collection. Here's one I think is especially charming:

And this one is my favorite (double click pic to zoom):

I had to get it not only because I'm a Charles Dickens fan, but because of the adorable little 1915 flip calendar on the bottom:

Normally you would tear off a page every time the month changed, but the pages for the entire year are all still here. I guess this particular calendar was never used. I just love it!

I want one! (or two, or three)

How adorable are these rings?! I have been a ring addict for a long time, and I'm trying hard to resist these right now (because I really don't NEED another ring). I've actually admired this shop, lunaticart, for a long time! These perfect little sterling and macrame rings can be purchased as a stacking set or individually. You can get them in a variety of colors, too! I may end up breaking down...especially since these rings come from France and I'd love having a little bit of something that used to live in France.

Lucky lady

Today I got a great big package in the mail- an instant collection. I won all seven of these vintage milk glass vases from a really cool vintage shop called Ugly Santa. Go check it out! The giveaway was hosted here. If you don't already follow this amazing blog, you must do so now. :D

Thanks so much to both of you! These vases are going to have a wonderful home on my windowsills. :)

My sister Emma is 16 years old today. Time sure flew by. I was 16 when she was born! We kind of have this silly thing where we take funny (and dorky) 'photo shoots' when we're bored. Here are a couple, but they are two or three years old now:

This one's especially embarrassing and she will hate me for posting it:

Happy birthday, Emma Grace! xoxo

Thrift store score!

Well, it wasn't exactly a thrift store- more like a tiny antique/vintage place I visit every once in a while. Today I got this gorgeous McCoy jardiniere! It's pretty big at about 10 inches wide at its widest part. I just HAD to get it because of the great aqua color. Now, if this thing had its matching pedestal, the whole set would be worth hundreds of dollars. Unfortunately, this jar has a fairly big glaze chip on the back (but I'll just keep that part turned to the wall!). Anyway, for $14.00, I think it was a deal.

I also picked up a little vintage apron that had seen better days. I promptly cut into it and made this new cuff:

I think it turned out adorable! It will be listed in the shop on Monday. :D

I love this dress. I reallllly love this dress. The thing is, I could never ever be brave enough to wear a dress this short without jeans under it, or some type of pants. The problem is that I think it would be too long to wear with pants and would look strange. Ugh! At any rate, I love this dress. Find it here.

I must make these!

How cute are these mini peanut butter cookies?! I originally found them here, and if you don't already follow this blog, you are missing out on some really great finds/tutorials. See the whole recipe (and watch these buttons get dipped in chocolate!) here. :D

New and pretty

I feel like I haven't made anything new in AGES!! It's been really hard to get back into sewing since moving. This morning I finished up two new cuffs, and the one in the first photo is now in the shop. The other one will be listed tomorrow. I love them both!

**mention this post in the notes to seller and your shipping will be refunded! :D
