Shakespeare and Company, Paris

Would you just look at this place? This is my dream bookstore- tons of cozy nooks and tunnels and I just love how it has a kind of 'secret room' feel to it. Unfortunately I don't live anywhere near Paris. Have any of you been here? Take a look at these great photos:

They even have nooks with cozy beds. One day I WILL get there!

  6. Ooh I've walked by it several times while in Paris, but was never able to drag anyone in there with me! It's such a magical little place, but then, Paris is magical too.

  7. Oh how I wish I was there! It appears to go on forever! I'd love to be curled up on that cot with a drink in one hand & a dusty old book in the other!

  9. I've shuffled and dug around Shakespeare & Co. on several occasions -- there are so many little nooks, and get this: you can even stay overnight upstairs! They occasionally allow people to stay in an upstairs room (umm, VERY modest) in exchange for working a couple/few days at the bookstore. Lots of cats roaming around, too. Oh, and great guests, book groups, etc. And awesome bins of used books to sift through outside...

  14. Amy when I was in Paris back in 2000 I SOOO wanted to go, but we didn't have time (we did pass by the book sellers along the Seine and many French book stores, and I totally wished I could read French!)

  17. I lived there for a fortnight during 2001. It's really hard to put into to words how much that experience has claimed part of my heart.
