Latest thrift store score

Everyone needs a good old-fashioned late 60s record player/stereo console, right? Well, of course they do! This is my latest thrift store find- both the stereo and record player are completely functional. I admit- this thing is kind of ugly. Well, maybe really ugly. I intend to paint it...maybe a shade of green or aqua- any suggestions? I just love listening to old records, so I was more than happy to get this for $20.00.

  1. I vote for aqua!! We bought a house from an old lady once and she left one of those when she moved. My parents took ownership of it since we didn't have room for it!

  3. You wanna see ugly? I have one of those things in my garage from the in-laws and it's got ugly all over it! Yours is actually one of the neater ones I've seen. You really did score! It'll look neat painted, whichever color you decide will be nice.

  4. Are you reading my mind or what?! I have an equally ugly buffet cabinet that I use for my shipping bench and storage. I've been wanting to paint it for a while now, but I can't make up my mind between a low key olive green color, or a soft turquoise. Help me!!

    :D

I'm interested in seeing what others have to say about colors...

  10. I don't know why as I'm traditionally a lover of anything aqua but I'm getting a "dove grey" with a complimentary accent vibe from this. Great score!

  14. Good for you for this score! I love record players. I hope they bring them back to the main stream again!
I say paint it aqua and then distress it a bit to give it a vintage old look :)
