This is my grandma. Gramma Mona, to be exact. I had never seen this photo in my life until it was somehow discovered in a box of old, beat up photos at her house (by my mom). It turns out my grandma always hated this picture and never showed it to anyone! The photo was very creased and torn, and my mom did a great job of restoring it. I think Gramma Mona is a beauty. This picture was taken somewhere around 1952, when she was about 19 or 20. She is still living and gets a kick out of how we love this photo. I loved it so much that I had it made into a tiny pendant by
AdornJewelry.

Isn't she lovely?! To see the photo as my mom found it, look
here. She did a fantastic job of making it new again!

ReplyDeleteMom, it's supposed to rain all day. I still want to go, though.
ReplyDeleteShe is gorgeous...what a beautiful hairstyle she had too! I wonder why she didn't like it. Your mom did a fantastic job.
ReplyDeleteAw, what a sweet story! I love that you made her photo into a pendant. Your grandma is a beautiful lady and your mom should really be proud of herself for doing such a great job.
ReplyDeleteOh my, she looks so lovely! I love the smile . . . she looks like she could kiss you or bite you! Grrrr . . .
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful restoration of a great picture!
ReplyDeleteI was looking through all the beautiful pics you take and I am curious, what kind of camera do you use? They come out so clear and sharp. I really am dying to know now!
Also do you have a special table that you put things on to take a picture or do you just shoot them at random?
ReplyDeleteHahah, anonymous- thanks for asking! My camera is not terribly great. It's a Kodak EasyShare Z710. And I usually take all my photos outside on the front porch in natural light. As you see, a lot of times I'll set the items on the porch railing. Other times I'll use a chair out there. I'm glad you like the photos!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'll check out that camera! :) Must be good!
ReplyDeleteWow! Truly beautiful. Great photograph!!
ReplyDeleteOH my goodness, she was beyond beautiful... quite perfect looking! Very inspiring, and lovely pendent too!
ReplyDeleteShe is GORGEOUS! What a clever idea to have it made into a pendant. Looks great!
ReplyDeleteshe's a beauty!
ReplyDeleteShe's stunning! I agree with the above posts-- she totally looks like a Hollywood starlet!
ReplyDeleteAmy - I know one of the reasons Grandma Mona didn't like this picture was that they painted eyelashes on her! I inherited her sparse eyelashes LOL It was most likely retouched in other ways (as many professional photos were in that era) which gave it that "movie star" look. (And we all know magazine covers, etc. are highly retouched even today, but in a way that we don't notice as much - more natural). I think she looked a lot like this when I was little - she wore her hair similar always loved red lipstick even in the late 60s when it wasn't popular!
ReplyDeleteLisa
How gorgeous! I know you feel about your pendant just as I do about mine! We're so lucky there are such talented artists out there to do something like this!
